We wanted to offer sand play, but to extend it to include the variety of opportunities that would be available in a natural playscape. Our joint working party with Spring has resulted in an exciting area that children and adults gravitate towards whatever the weather. The number of skills, knowledge and ideas being practised here shows how worthwhile this project has been. Jean Webb - Deputy Head St. Stephen's Children Centre   The brief was simple yet complex. How do we raise the aspirations of the whole school community to motivate pupils and nurture a sense of pride and self belief in our school? Our grounds were bleak, unattractive and uninviting, the transformation of our grounds to provide the highest quality learning environment was clearly the way forward. Working with Spring offered me the chance to be bold, imaginative and innovative in playground design. With excellent support at the design stage, 'Spring' were able to advise on the aesthetics that would lift the whole quality of play provision and radically enhance the overall look of the school. The end result has been the creation of high quality play areas and gardens that transform our dull inner city playground into an exciting outdoor classroom. The effect on the morale, enthusiasm and confidence of the children has been immeasurable and has been significant in raising the quality of learning and teaching across the school. Spring has worked closely with staff in developing: The foundation stage outdoor area Community garden An outdoor eco- classroom An amphitheatre to promote speaking, listening and drama The pond area The school has benefited greatly from working with Paul and Dave. Their craftsmanship is of the highest quality, aesthetically pleasing and eco friendly. They work very well within our school community and are highly professional in their approach and communication with colleagues, meeting all deadlines set by the school.
